Overview Odin Capital Group is a venture capital firm founded in 1999 by three partners: David McLeese, Thompson Rogers and Donna Walsh. The Firm’s first fund, Odin Fund 1, was launched in April 2000 and completed a close of $40.6 million in October 2000. Investment Strategy Odin Capital Group targets investments between $1 to $5 million in industries where it has experience and knowledge: information services, niche financial services and outsourced business services. The partners leverage their industry expertise as well as financial, technology, operational and marketing knowledge to complete new investments and advise portfolio companies on an ongoing basis. Odin is focused on financing the expansion phase for young companies that have demonstrated a demand for their product or service. Odin Capital takes a proactive role with its portfolio companies, service on their boards and supporting tactical and strategic objectives. Odin will make investments on a nationwide basis, but ahs a preference for investing in companies located in the central region of the U.S. Principals: David McLeese, Partner, relocated to Omaha in 1999 from Chicago, where he was a managing director in Bank of America’s Acquisition Finance Group. In this capacity, he specialized in financing leveraged buyouts and recapitalizations for private equity firms and corporations. Prior to joining Bank of America in 1993 McLeese was a vice president at Citicorp in Chicago. He holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago and a B.S. from Nebraska Wesleyan University.Thompson Rogers, Partner, has been making investments in private companies for over a decade through The Affiliated Companies, Inc., a private investment firm controlled by Rogers. He began his career as a corporate banker where he first met McLeese in the early 1980’s. Rogers holds a B.A. form Hastings College, Hastings, Nebraska. Donna Walsh, Partner, has extensive experience in various operational and product development roles, most recently as a vice president with First Data Corporation. Walsh’s responsibilities included the acquisition and divestiture of major business units and leading divisions to develop and market technology-based products. Prior to joining First Data, Walsh held positions with CS First Boston and the Boston Consulting Group. She holds an M.B.A and B.S.E. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. John Gustafson, CFA, Vice President, joined Odin Capital Group in November of 2001 after 7 years at Heartland Capital Fund, Ltd., where he began as an analyst and advanced to vice president. John also recently served as the chief financial officer for Visualize, Inc., an early stage software company based in Phoenix, Arizona. John holds an M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a B.S. from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. |
