Sensor Technology Development Fund, LLC (STDF) was formed in 1996 and is capitalized at $15M and typically invests up to $2,000,000 in early stage (seed and first round) funding of core technology, hardware-oriented companies concentrating within the four-corner states of Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah. It has currently placed over $12M in start-up capital and maintains liquid assets in excess of $3M in short-term securities.

The fund managers are Robert G. Knollenberg and Betty K. Ohannessian. In addition to the start-up capital, together they provide over 40 years of managerial experience including high technology start-ups, R&D operations, management team building, and human resource management. The two principals actively assist the portfolio companies in areas of start-up, strategic and operational planning, management recruiting, and expansion. Without the burden of limited partners and associated fund raising costs, STDF is a very efficient operation and enjoys streamlined, rapid decision-making processes.
