CVCA Membership Fact Sheet

Mission

The mission of the CVCA is to be a leading venture capital association with a strategic intent of making Colorado one of the top five markets for venture activity.

Sponsoring well-executed, well-attended events that benefit our membership will support the achievement of our intent.

Qualifications

All membership applications are subject to approval by the CVCA Board of Directors, Memberships are renewable annually. Companies that meet the following initial qualifications may apply:

Venture Capitalists (Headquarters in Colorado)

  • Venture capital investment is the primary business activity
  • Fund(s) are organized as traditional venture capital funds
  • Minimum of $10M under management

Venture Capitalists (Headquarters out-of-state)

  • Preferred to have an office in Colorado
  • Must have Colorado-headquartered portfolio companies
  • Minimum of $100M under management

Service Professionals

  • Management recruiters, accounting firms, law firms, investment bankers, bankers, and other business process outsourcers with a commitment to, and focus on, venture-funded clients.
  • Two representatives from each firm may be listed as the participating members and attend meetings.
  • Service professionals must have sponsorship from one member of the current CVCA Board of Directors

Private Investors

  • Private investors who are actively making investments in the region.
  • A minimum of four investments have been made in the region.
  • Investors are accredited investors as defined by the Securities Exchange Commission.
  • A single representative from the organization may be listed as participating members and may attend meetings.

Associate Members

  • Corporations, government departments or affiliates and similar institutions evidencing a current commitment to helping venture backed companies from a financial or strategic perspective.
  • Two representatives from the organization may be listed as participating members and attend meetings.
  • Representatives must be in a management role within a part of the organization that is responsible for helping venture backed companies from a financial or strategic perspective.
  • Associate members must have sponsorship from one member of the current CVCA Board of Directors

Membership Fees

Membership fees are billed on a calendar year, with prorated fees applied semi-annually for new members.

Venture Capitalists — $500/year
Service Professionals — $750/year
Private Investors — $500/year
Associate Members — $1000/year

Application Process

Applications can made online at www.coloradovca.org. Applications are reviewed and approved by the CVCA Membership Chairperson. If there are questions regarding membership eligibility according to the above definitions then the Chairperson may request additional information from the applicant and may request input from the CVCA board for final approval.
